Morphine is an opioid, or narcotic drug derived from opium. It is an effective pain killer, but long-term use causes dependency. As your body’s tolerance for morphine grows, you need increasing amounts of the drug to experience the same results. Over time, it wreaks havoc on nearly every system of the body.
